I can easily believe that 75% of home energy use is for heat, at least in
colder climes! I wonder if it's the opposite in warmer places (such as
Florida, where I live). Here, I can imagine that 75% of home energy use would
be for air COOLING. Anyone know?

I do remember hearing at some point that air-conditioning accounts for
one-sixth of all electricity consumed in the U.S. - not sure how that fits
into the big picture.
