No, there's not a legally binding agreement. The word is in the public
domain and in dictionaries, as Bill discovered when he tried to patent it.
While in his PC books he lays claim to copyright of the word, legally a word
cant be copyrighted (only a body of works can be copyrighted, like a book,
song, picture etc). However it is a matter of misrepresentation and also of
professional requirements - one doesn't call oneself an architect for
building a chook house.
