Again, vested interests at work, USDA & OTA (on behalf of corporate organic
agriculture) seek to thwart
efforts to develop useful and effective standards for sustainable
agriculture. Gershuny
supports OTA and allowing Congress to have a say in defining the Organic Rule.

You can google them for these answers--but one clue to who is NOT
funding this process might be found in the nature of the appeal filled
against Leonardo by USDA, which cites, among other things, the
prohibition on GMOs and the use of organic practices as a baseline in
the DSTU.

Who is SCS and who funds them?

Quick response:

SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) funded development of the standard and put up the $$ for this process, at the same time relinquishing control over the product. Participants have to fund their own participation, and there is a Task Force whose charge is to find money to help those who lack the resources to participate.
