Best bet would be to ask for there sources of imformation that suports there
veiws, as this is a technical matter and not personal

They could perhaps use some education as to how ineffective and
polluting "standard" septic systems can be.
Even half-decent graywater systems will probably protect those lakes far
far better than septic leachfields.

I think you'll find some info on that in Art's graywater publications &
web site, and elsewhere if you poke around.

Septic tank leachfields have been pretty well documented (not by
mainstream folks mind you, they're still in denial) as a really really
poor design.

They emit what they emit in the lifeless subsoil, so whatever comes out
gets no biological treatment. It simply moves wherever it will in
whatever the underground flow/aquifer situation is where it sits. By
lakes and flowing water this can include into the lake or watercourse;
above/near aquifers, into the aquifer; etc.
