What hasn’t yet been said about irradiation is enzymes.

Irradiation kills plant enzymes.  Enzymes are described by M.D.’s Lopez et al as “The Fountain of Life”, this being because they act as both catalysts, facilitating most every reaction and interaction in the body, and messengers, facilitating intercellular communication vital in the endocrine system.

Lawrence Doss, M.D. lists more than 200 health problems related to low levels of enzymes, including: Chronic bone and joint problems; cardiovascular disorders; abnormal cell growths; slow recovery from surgery and injuries; excess weight; abnormal cholesterol levels; blood pressure problems; skin wrinkles and other signs of aging; sexual problems; and weak immune system.

The body produces many enzymes starting with digestive enzymes in the saliva glands, but these levels tend to decrease with age, (partly due to toxins and free radical damage.)  But many other enzymes come from the food we eat; this is a most critical aspect of maintaining health, longevity, and quality of life as we age.  People are so lacking in enzymes that I earn commissions from sales of enzyme supplements to unhealthy people, which is most everybody in America.  Enzymes break down toxins in the system as well as immune complexes and spent hormones, such as insulin, that are no longer needed once blood sugar reaches proper levels.  Immunologist Nicholas Gonzales, M.D. treats pancreatic cancers with enzyme therapy, stating that the enzymes help rid the body of tumor debris.

Think of enzymes in two categories: digestive and systemic.  Digestive enzymes are produced in the mouth and gut (G.I. tract) and are supplemented by foods we eat; this is one of the benefits of the popular Noni juice – besides being loaded with enzymes, it also promotes enzyme activity at the systemic level.  Papaya is loaded with digestive enzymes as is pineapple, noted for the enzyme bromelain.

Systemic enzymes work at all levels of the body.  Inflammation of the cell membrane causes resistance to insulin (among other things) at the receptor sites making cellular nutrition more difficult.  Insulin carries sugars on its back through the insulin receptor sites in cells for delivery to the mitochondria where it cellular energy is produced. Inflammation of the cell membrane (which is made of lipids, fats) due to toxins (as well as the wrong sugars, free radical damage and lack of essential fatty acids) creates this insulin resistance.  Unable to dock and move through the cells that need the nutrients, the excess sugars form fat cells for later use, while the cell starves for lack of nutrients.  Systemic enzymes have a role in cleaning up the toxins at the cellular level, thus reducing inflammation, increasing cellular nutrition, and reducing fat.  Yes, in large part, the obesity epidemic is due to lack of enzymes in the food – that and the processing and marketing of refined sugars by our friends in the “Big Food” industry.

Now “Big Food” wants to irradiate the enzymes out of food so it has a longer shelf life.  With so much food already being produced we are encouraged to “super size” our orders.  Jay Leno says, super size your butt.  That’s about right.

Microwaves do the same thing to food as irradiation.  They kill food and devitalize it.  What’s the difference between a body that’s dead and one that’s alive?  Energy!  What’s the difference between a fine fragrant Italian liquor and de-natured alcohol?  One has lost its nature, its essence, its life force, its energy.  The quickest way to de-nature foods is to irradiate them, or microwave them, or over cook them, or over process them.  It’s not the food in your life; it’s the life in your food.  Eat your vegetables.
