Graham--

Survivalists generally have a very close feeling for the land and a love for reaping the fruits of their labors by intelligently using nature toward their own ends, as do all the other animals on God's earth. Their political philosophy typically causes them to reject government intrusion into their lives as well as the plan for living that has been laid out for them by society at large-- as a cog in the big wheel. Their vision is certainly extreme, only because as history goes forward it seems to be getting harder and harder to live off the land without spending one's entire life in the pursuit of money.

I would suggest the main difference I see between people who share a love for a life spent in partnership with nature is that some of us, when their family is hungry, will pick up a gun and shoot something for the pot, while others, as a matter of personal principle, won't. Does that sound right to anyone else?

I don't hunt, myself, but I'd be hard pressed to argue with someone who told me you can't look at a rabbit or a squirrel and tell me these creatures weren't intended as food.
