We are looking for extraordinarily qualified person(s) interested in
ADVANCED PERMACULTURE TRAINING. No wimps, no whiners, no missionaries, no
holier-than-thou environmentalists, militant vegetarians or vegans, no
incurable head-worm cases, no dooms-dayers, no knuckleheads...mean people
ok...

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST: have a sense of humor...be able to leap tall
buildings...be of hardy stock and disposition...have honed construction,
handyperson and homestead skills (or the fortitute to figure it out
quick!)...able to handle SOLITUDE, able to handle neighboring
rural-American-conservatives...possess keen observation skills...be
certified in Permaculture Design and, of course, must care for the Earth
and each other...AND must be able to take direction from a holier-than-thou
Permaculture Designer and the really nice Landowners.

Ideal candidate(s) would also be interested in land partnership/ownership
with continued permanent full-time or intermittent residency. COUPLE

SITE & LOCATION:
Assignment will be in a REMOTE location in the foothills of California's
southern Sierra Nevada range. Site is near the Kern River / Lake Isabella
area (approx. 3.5 hrs from the Los Angeles airport). The 40 acre,
high-elevation site features ANCIENT GRINDING ROCKS with light density
forests of oaks, pines and cottonwoods. Also featured on the site are
year-round streams, native tobacco, sage and wild onions.

AREA PROFILE
The Kern Valley is the 400 sq mile area surrounding Lake Isabella. Within
the confines of the valley and mountain slopes exists:
* 5 of the 6 major California bioregions -Mojave and Great Basin Deserts,
Great Valley Grasslands which includes Braodleaf Forest, Coastal Chaparral
and Sierran Forest
* southern California's largest freshwater lake
* the largest and highest elevation stands of contiguous riparian forest in
California
* over 30% of California's native flora
* the highest diversity of mammals in North America
* over 300 species of birds
* over half of California's butterfly species
* and THE LARGEST CONCENTRATION of MIGRATING TURKEY VULTURES in the US and
Canada

NOTE: in nearby eastern Kern County there is also the LARGEST CONCENTRATION
of ANCIENT INDIAN ROCK ART in the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE.

Some of THE MOST SPECTACULAR recreation opportunities also exist...fishing,
hiking, backpacking, birdwatching, boating, canoeing, kayaking, white-water
rafting, windsurfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, panning for gold, and
fer relaxin' thars always shootin' at cans and huntin'. Don't forget the
"Bioregions Festival" and, of course, the "Turkey Vulture Festival" each
year.

ADVANCED PERMACULTURE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:
Construct and implement Permaculture Plan for a remote and unimproved 40
acre site. Landowners objectives include:..improvements to
access...construction of permanent full-time residences as well as
permanent intermittent residences and campgrounds...install water
systems...ponds...erosion control and soil conservation
measures...alternative power systems...integrated garden, orchard and
aquaculture systems...your basic "Permaculture homestead cut out of the
wilderness" type system.

HOUSING OPTIONS:
A trailer with side-room is available, equipped with make-shift power and
water supply. No permanent power or domestic water system currently exists
(see above objectives). Other options: Bring your own trailer or build your
own shelter. Nearby towns also offer low-cost rentals and homes for sale.

COMPENSATION OPTIONS:
In addition to advanced Permaculture training...a reasonable stipend (to be
negotiated) and/or sweat equity credit towards ownership/partnership.

extensive skills, references and the name of the Permaculture Instructor(s)
that certified you. We'll get a credit report from you later...

Again our first choice will be a couple interested in becoming
partners...but we are open...We will then set up interviews, meeting with
the land owners and site visit.
