Thanks! Hearing Foote discuss Faulkner would be wonderful. Speaking of
Faulkner, I visited Oxford last summer and rambled around his home, Rowan
Oak, and visited his grave. I have a photograph of myself at his grave which
I treasure. For what its worth, anyone interested should make that trip.

There is an audiocassette version of Foote reading the unabridged 3 volumes
if it is still available (Amazon says they can deliver it in 5 or 6 weeks).
Also, the Modern Library excerpted the portion of the book detailing the
Gettysburg campaign and later the siege of Vicksburg. Another place to hear
Foote talking is in the documentary films about Southern literature "Tell
About the South" from Ross Spears of the James Agee Project. I have only
seen the first two hour installment, which includes an interview with Foote
holding his cat in his lap and discussing Faulkner. I understand that he
discusses Percy in one of the later two films.

Enjoyed reading the latest "chat" about Foote. Hey, if anyone has heard him
speak in person or even seen the Ken Burns "Civil War" series on PBS, he is
wonderful to "hear" - for those of us from the South, he truly is like the
neighbor next door or if you are not from the South, his diction, "accent"
etc should be enthralling to you, I would hope.

Maybe the nicest combination would be to have an audiobook of his novels,
narrated by him.
