You don't actually need a hot knife. I never use one. Any serrated knife will work. I know many beeks that just use a dinner fork to scratch the cappings.

For an uncapping tank I just use an old top feeder and a board with a screw sticking through it to rest the frames on while I'm working on them.

5 gallon buckets are available for free at most grocery store bakeries. You'll just need to wash the frosting out of it (be sure it's good grade). So you would only need to drill a hole in the bucket for the honey gate. You'ld probably have to buy that, but it's only a few dollars.

Hello everyone,
Due to many reasons I have not been an active member of OCBA. I missed the April cutoff for membership and not able to rent the extractor.

I'd like to ask if anyone has personal equipment they would be willing to rent or loan?? I have found the extractor itself but need everything else i.e. Hot knife, 5 gallon bucket with cut off spout, and other equipment you would recommend I'm not sure to ask for.

I am not in a position to buy all of these things so thought I'd try here first.

Thanks in advance,
