These particular traps use propane to generate carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide attracts blood-sucking insects, just as our exhaled breath does. The trap then traps the pests.

Honey bees are not blood-suckers and are not attracted to carbon dioxide. There shouldn't be any problem with having this type of trap around, with respect to honey bees.

If you know of one that works on ticks, I'd like to have it in my bee yard!

My next door neighbor recently reported that they have a Koolatron Mosquito Trap set up in their front yard.  I am concerned about the bee and hives in my other neighbors yard.  Their houses are across the street from each other.   Is this a concern?

(I’m wondering how this trap can differentiate among flying creatures).

Thanks,

becky
