Yes - I'm all for that too.

just a thought, there are beneficial nematodes that control for ticks, as well as hive beetles and adding that to the hive beetle nematodes sounds like heaven http://www.arbico-organics.com/product/nematodes-fleas-ticks/pest-solver-guide-fleas-ticks Annallys Goodwin-Landher PO Box 2744 Chapel Hill, NC 27515 919 933-9109 annallys AT hotmail.com Four years after the bees are gone, humanity is gone. Are you saying that the vendor recommends three applications for the best results?
I would be interested in two packages right now if others in the group are interested in trying to get to 20.

I just ordered beneficial nematodes from Southeastern and they ship 2 days, so they'll be here Thursday. The fellow I spoke with says if we put together an order next spring of 20 or more, give him a two week notice, the price drops to 12.20/5million, and we can share shipping. His father was an USDA entomologist and kept bees. He recommends an early spring, mid summer, and early fall application. He also indicated that most of his customers have been from Virginia lately.

I think I got mine here.: http://www.gardeninsects.com/index.asp (It's been at least 3 years, maybe 4) I ordered a collection of beneficial insects that included, green lacewings, lady bugs, nematodes and praying mantis. But they ran out of praying mantises and sent me double lady bugs, instead. They don't appear to have mantids in the collection any more.

I think his name is Phil. My advice: call, don't email. They're not quite 21st century with their web infrastructure yet. And he might
have a hearing/handwriting issue (or I have a speaking problem). It took 4 tries to get my delivery address correct... But they showed up, I crossed my finger and applied them. I split an order with 3 other beekeepers. None of them have terrible SHB problem. One of the
three has higher levels, but nothing near what I saw yesterday (I'm not convinced he applied them correctly or put them near his hive- he might have used them in his garden instead). It's no silver bullet,
but it's part of IPM in my opinion...
