- Subject: [ocba] Hive seems light?
- Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2012 20:45:43 -0500 (CDT)
Folks,
Two weeks ago we inspected my main hive and split off 5 deep
frames into a nuk. Tonight the bees were bringing in pollen but
not much, it was 6pm when I got home. Seems like there should be
more bees. Anyway I lifted the hive (4 boxes) it seemed light,
very light as lifting it was too easy.
So here is my question have the bees eaten more honey to build up
the 5 new deep frames? Or might half of them left in a swarm and
taken the most of the honey? No robbing, seemingly happy bees.
Maybe 5 days ago I was having 500 bee orientation flights.
Hate to do it, but it looks like I need to feed them. I am feeding
the nuk. I just did
not want to open them up tonight.
Cheers,
Randy Emmitt
