We had an infestation in our eaves this summer, so they are definitely in the area!!  Fortunately, they did not invade our hives.  They are huge and nasty creatures.

You all may have heard about these Japanese Hornets, but they are new to me.  Check out these video clips - the first shows our sweet European honeybees getting massacred, and the second shows the Asian honeybees who have evolved to fight the nasty big bully...


I watched the first in horror, and literally cheered out loud when I watched the second.  My teenage boys think I'm nuts.  :)
