When bee is on edge of pool, capture in small matchbox with powdered sugar in it. Release bee and watch flight path. Station an observer where bee disappears from flight. You may have to repeat the process several times to get enough sightings to lead you to the colony, When close, if it is a large colony, you should hear buzzing around the entrance.

Becky,

I am writing regarding a honeybee problem that I am experiencing. I have an above ground pool in my backyard and everyday I have swarms of bees coming to drink from the it. Unfortunately, quite a few have drown in the pool and I have had to kill some so that the kids could swim. I have not been able to locate the hive, but I think it is in the woods next to my yard. I hate to keep killing the bees, but they are becoming a big nuisance and I am eventually going to have to locate the hive and get rid of it. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide some advice or assistance in locating and removing the colony and hive. Below is my address and contact information. Thank you in advance.
