Thanks Connie, this sounds like a great idea! How does everyone feel about it? If you all want to do this, could you have your square done by the next meeting. Like Connie said it will only work if everyone does one, so please let me know asap if you are willing to do this.
Thanks,
Becky

Becky,
I have lots of ideas for the state fair booth!
This is one of the ideas I have that I want to start right away.   It will not cost the ocba members any money just about one hour of their time.  I was thinking of a crazy quilt for the back drop of the ocba booth.  Each member will make a  12 inch square.   They will start with a piece of cardboard.  Add a photo, words of bee wisdom, original art or what ever they want.  We will attach them all together to form a crazy quilt.  Use items found around your home, yard, office.  I would like to see lots of color, and different textures.  I was hoping for a folk art feel to it.  So this means everybody can do this with no trouble.  This is so easy and a lot of fun.  This is how I am thinking of making my square: I will take a photo glue it to cardboard. I might add material and foam to make it puffy.  Then around the border I am going to take Bit o Honey wrappers and fold them into a gum chain.  I might add beads or hexagon little mirrors.  Boom its done!  We could write something out and mingle it throughout the quilt.  I want the state fair judges to stand back and say:    Hmmm.... what crawled into Orange Counties bib overalls?  That looks like a group effort over there!!!!
We will need each member to make one for it to work though.  If they did not want to make one they could ask a friend or relative to help them out.  Time is ticking.....bring your finished 12 inch ( per side) square to the next meeting.

Hi Everyone,
At our July meeting we voted on pictures for our calendar. We had some
very nice submissions, but not very many and about half of them were
from field day. Does anyone have any other pictures they would like to
submit to me through email, maybe some bees on flowers, honey
extraction, winter picture, etc. We have some good pics of bees on comb,
drinking water, field day, and a fall picture. We can use the field day
pictures, just thought it would be nice to have variety in the calendar.
If you have pictures, please send them asap and no later than Friday.
Thanks,
Becky

Any thoughts on the state fair booth, I have not had any replies for
volunteers or ideas.
