I read that Mr. Jaynes volunteered to tend them, and that they planned to leave the hive at the site of the tree. Anyone know if that's correct?

Great photos! Does anyone know what actually happened with those bees?
Did someone from the Wake Co. beekeepers assoc. claim them? I
remember there was some speculation in the original article that these
bees had been living there for quite some time. Was wondering if anyone
else had more detail?
