I have seen this before also (in southern Orange County). Only partial frames were coloured, not the whole frame. I recall someone saying, under the right conditions, sourwood honey can be purple.

Just my dim (and often faulty) recollection

A plant called TiTi causes a condition called purple brood ā€“ a toxic condition.  It is usually too cold here for that plant, however.  Have no idea otherwise.

I have just completed my second harvest this year and find myself with a batch of honey with an unusual lilac/purple hue to it. I can only guess that the bees have been gathering from some specific flower to make this ā€¦ Any of you know what it might be?

Iā€™m worried it could have something to do with the swimming pool incident ā€“ but it tastes so good!
