Perhaps some Prunus maritima from Oikos, selecting the larger plant sizes available, and planted in a pot would satisfy your request.  A 2-3' selection should bear within a year or so.  Be sure to get several for propagation.  You could also make a special request to nurseries.

Hi
I have a good neighbor, who's 25 year old son is currently undergoing chemo, getting ready for a bone marrow transplant in Feb.
Regardless, when he heard that I had ordered a bunch of young plum trees, he's terribly envious, but understandably wants something larger that will bear SOONER.
Does anyone know of a source for potted fruit trees? perhaps a miniature type, that will bear soon?
thanks
Amy
