That sounds like a really bad idea to me. I assume he is producing grape wines. I'm no expert on grapes, but I have always heard the vines must be made to suffer (usually a subsoil crop) to make great wine. Now if he is producing wines from other fruits that is another story. I imagine a gooseberry winery might benefit a great deal from biodynamic practices.

Mark:

I met one of your clients (I think) late on the last day and talked to him only briefly.

Attendance was very low...perhaps the lowest of any NAFEX meeting I've ever been to.

The meeting was fine, saw a lot of interesting operations and of course the climate is near identical to central Calif, very low humidity, very little disease or insects.

Growers (both organic and conventional) are taking a hit due to the economy.  One of the most successful growers is having a hell of a time finding markets for his peaches!!!

We did visit a most bizarre (to me) winery who is growing via bio-dynamics....has sunk tons of bucks into the operation.  Or I think this fellow has a ton of cash he needs to get rid of.

Overall I had a great time.  Lots of laughs.

Did anyone out there attend the Nafex meeting in Colorado? Any highlights.
