Del, I have three trees exhibiting symptoms similar to yours - the variety
is 'Red Giant' or 'Russian Giant' - - of 5 trees, 3 exhibit the symptoms -
one severe, two less, and two are normal - - the malady exhibits in the
fruit also - - knotted appearance - the foliage is deformed - I asked about
it on 'Apple Crop' a couple of years ago, but got no response - - my guess
is a virus, but it is only a guess. I have posted some pictures of it
here - 608.19 (you will have to log in as 'guest' and open the
attachments) -
