I disagree on the relocation of wild animals from your place to someone else place so that they can share in your problems that you are trying to eliminate.

I'd relocate them a lot farther than a couple of miles away. As for bait, I used a piece of melon, an apple, some broccoli, and some peanut butter. Seemed to work very well though I don't know which ingredient of this gourmet meal it liked the most.

Subject: [NAFEX] Groundhogs Devouring Peaches

Hello all:
I have encountered a problem this year with groundhogs tearing apart my peach trees to get to the fruit. They stand up and tear low lying limbs and apparently climb the trees to get to the fruit (I haven't actually seen them up in the trees, but there have been to many branches broken off and torn up to be a coincidence, and one of my 10 year olds said she did see a groundhog up in a tree). I have tried have-a-heart traps with relocation a couple miles away, and a BB gun, but they now run at the first sign of movement near the house. I have thought about putting D-Con rat poison out but I don't know if it is effective or legal.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get rid of these pests? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. Chris Patterson
