Gaylusaccia have much larger seeds than Vaccinium, if you need a way to tell
the genera apart. Vaccinium seed doesn't need stratification. Prepare a
flat of soil with a good amount of peat in it. Sprinkle peat on top and
firm it down with a board, then mist it. Sprinkle the seed on, dust it with
just a little peat, mist it until it's moist, and put a sheet of glass over
the flat. Keep it warm and out of direct sun. The seedlings are very tiny,
so that you may only see the surface of the peat look greenish, as though it
had moss on it, at first. Look very close and you will see the tiny seed
leaves. When the first true leaves open, you can lift seedlings with a
toothpick and pot them. Keep them moist at all times. Or just go dig some
suckers from the parent bushes when they are dormant.
