After fighting a long battle with cancer, former TROTSAR Mounted Team Assistant Commander, Laurie Platt (Trot15) passed away on 15
May 2011. Laurie was 57 years old and served with the team until March of 2009 when brain cancer forced her into retirement. Her
internment will be near Cedar Rapids Iowa.  Her MSAR mount is now in Iowa and will serve as the rider-less horse at the funeral.

Go ride like the wind Laurie, we will miss you.

Our heartfelt sorrow is with the team and family.  But agree when you say, "Ride like the wind". Again our prayers are with all that were and still are touched by the woman that undoubtedly gave alot of herself to others.  Lisa Sites Clark County Mounted Search and Rescue. Springfield Ohio

Thank you for the sad news. No one should have to die from brain cancer. My
daughter has been battling it for 4 years and for the past year has shown no
signs of growth.?

My sincere sympathy to her family.
