Chris,

Thanks for sharing.

About 15 months ago the TROTSAR Mounted Team hosted one of Scot Hansen’s “Self Defense for Trail Riders Clinic” in Maryland.  The course was very informative and had 10 riders with their mounts (per class) learning some of his techniques.  One of the most important things he teaches is being aware of other people out on the trail.  MSAR teams may want consider hosting one of Horse Think clinics as a way to provide a safety course for both your team members and other equestrians within your region.   I believe that participating in one of these clinics is a great way for you and your horse to learn.

This short video gives a pretty decent overview of how to react if someone on the ground is harassing you.

Good reminder!

Cheers,
Chris
