Are you waiting for me Bonnie? I looked and I couldn't find another email. I responded to the last one you sent, didn't I?

Sincerely

Teri Oliver

In northwest Georgia, your choices include units in these counties:
Gilmer, Pickens, Forsyth, maybe Oconee. The following leads are from
"Georgia Horse Council Equine News", Spring 2003, and other sources.

DeKalb's posse reputedly disbanded after selling its land, which was
valuable, giving the proceeds to various charities.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol Unit, established
2001, active in 2005. It isn't clear if civilian volunteers are
included.

Oconee County MSAR Unit, established in 2003. They were featured
in a cover story by Nicki Hendrix, "Have Horse, Will Rescue", in
Athens Magazine, April 2005. Tag on the cover: "Mounted Rescue:
Going Where No ATV Can Go"
Grace Spence (706) 207-7950
Linda Kundell (706) 769-6395, kundell@yahoo.com

In Pickens, North GA Mounted Patrol includes Cynthia Donovan, DVM

group contact: Phone: 706-276-3026 Email: grace@ellijay.com

Gilmer County Mounted Patrol, a unit of the Gilmer County Sheriff's
Dept. and individual members of the Georgia Horse Council. Established
in 2001, with the guidance and training of Bill Richey, author of
Georgia's certification standards for mounted police officers.
Providing training for such units of law enforcement and search and
rescue units.

Bill Richey runs a mounted police training company, with a mailing
address in Newnan GA and phone (678) 854-8418.

Maybe ask Georgia Horse Council for more current information?

Finally, there have been other discussions of MSAR in Georgia and
Tennessee, particularly in 2005 Q1 and 2006 Q1, but also 2005 Q4
and 2006 Q3:

Here's a Google search query for you:
site:lists.ibiblio.org MSAR Tennessee OR Georgia

Have you tried the state SAR lists?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SAR-GA/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SAR-TN/

Let me know how you make out! And please send any corrections or
additions for the MSAR units web directory.

Thanks,
