Sounds good. Items to look for:

1. datum (CONUS NAD27 and WGS84 probably are the most relevant for you)
2. coordinate system (eg Lat/Long or UTM)
3. coordinate display (eg Degrees, minutes, seconds or Decimal degrees)
4. time display (daylight savings or not)
5. GPS turned on long enough prior to use (good lock on sats overhead)

IME, omitting item 5 can produce an error of hundreds or thousands of
miles.

It won't affect the coordinates data, but it is possible not all units
will show the same hour (due to the time displays being set differently).
Not a big deal for training, but on a SAR mission it could be important.
