I don't have specific resources to recommend...that would depend on the seed you anticipate saving.  It's always challenging to get a seed crop gathered at the optimum point, processed/dried, and into storage (for me anyway) because I am usually harvesting the commercial crop at the same time.  I do germination tests in the winter and note that viability is directly related to how carefully I've handled the seed.  I know that I am more successful (success= good germination rates) when I have allocated a certain area or group of plants for seed and grown them for that purpose, harvested the seed at its "fattest" and then processed/cleaned/winnowed it as fast as possible and put it into the driest and coldest storage I have.  Simply separating a portion of the cash crop (assuming the cash crop is also seed) for future seed use works, but the germination rate will be a bit lower and that may be ok as long as I know the approximate germination rate and sow accordingly in the next season.
Gives a person a headache to think of all this fiddly stuff and makes me understand why seed is so expensive even when I resent the costs.

Shawnee,
Recommended resources for improving our harvest processes and storage standards?
Thanks,
Mike

Quite an interesting article:  http://www.seedbuzz.com/knowledge-center/article/visualizing-consolidation-in-the-global-seed-industry-1996%E2%80%932008

How many of you are successfully saving seed, thus controlling input costs?
We've been saving a greater number of our seed strains but continue to have lower germination rates.   Suggestions for overcoming poor germination rates?

Thanks,
Mike
