I have greenhouses that at one part of the season or another had no electric
power working the blowers and I found that even without inflation a
substantial part of the greenhouse poly remains separated naturally. You
don't need a whole lot of air separation between layers. It only takes a few
millimeters of separation to provide heat retention. I would just leave the
house with its uninflated poly until you can get electricity to it or Google
non electric inflation there is a propeller driven system used by Plain Sect
types that some say works well at least when the wind blows... For permanent
electric I use cable for underground use its labeled UF. I use 10 gauge UF to
connect my greenhouses buried underground a few inches, its totally
waterproof... Bob.

We are trying to finish moving our tunnel before winter definitely
sets. We will be using double inflated plastic but don't have power on
site yet for the inflation blower. It seems to be unacceptable not to
inflate the covering so we need to get power there before we have our
electric hookup done. It is a ~700 ft run between the house and
tunnel. The blower will use at most 1 amp. I read a bit on the
internet and it seems I could use a SJTW cable and just leave it on
the soil surface for the winter. SJTW cable is stranded wire so it is
meant to be used with portable tools and such without breaking. I am
also considering the use of NMWU wire which is solid wire and this not
meant to be moved repeatedly. What I would like to know is if you
think I could use NMWU wire temporarily and reuse it afterward without
damaging it when taking it back. I am a bit confused about NMWU,
SJOOW, SJTW cables and it seems they could all be used.

Concerning wire gauge, I would like to know what you guys would think
of using 16 gauge wire. At 700 feet the voltage drop should be a bit
below 6 volts. It seems reasonable since the motor will definitely not
working very hard.

Best regards,
