I know about the coca cola and fly bait, I bought some but I keep dreading using it as it seems a rough way to go.  Everybody I talk to says to use it, one mixes the two and put it out in pie pans and the coons go right for it. I hesitated to mention it here and  I hate killing things.  Everything has its place but I have to make a living.  It wouldn't be so bad if the coons ate the whole cob but seem to want to take one bite out of every ear and knock down all the stalks. I don't mind sharing a little but they don't share, they take all they can get.  I guess people do that too though.   The visual effects are part of what causes a reaction in my case and it makes one get rather disgusted seeing the greedy mess they leave behind.  There was a distemper epidemic which took care of them a few years ago so if the population gets too high, which they do occasionally, disease gets them and I guess that's a bad way to go too, though it is the way of nature and there has to be balance.

You get fly bait, a powder in a can at your local farm supply store costs about $6 for a quart size can, looks sort of like a paint can, and doesn't take much.  Poison makes me cringe though.
