Be careful about the amount of heat you generate in your system. Back in the early 70's I used a design published in Organic Gardening for device to make home-made fruit leather that was similar. I found a box about 10" deep with an opening in the top the same size as a cookie sheet. I lined it with aluminum foil, set a trouble light in the center, ran the cord out the side and plugged it in. I set the cookie sheet in the top, filled it to 1/2" deep with a peach slurry. In about 48 hours I had a beautiful peach leather. The point is that incandescent bulbs can generate a lot of heat so make sure it's not too much.

Not Tim here, but i sure would not put them atop with the moisture of the flats.  I always use a dbl. plastic barrier between anything electrical when starting our flats.

Do you put your flats directly on top of the strings of Christmas lights, or do you use something to raise them up a little bit?
