David,
Buy a couple of bags of "soil conditioner" at your local garden center. Simply pile the pine fines (which is what soil conditioner is) heavily around the roots as if you were planting them. This is how a local nursery keeps its bare-root plants until they sell them. As an alternative you can"plant" them in large pots with the soil conditioner instead of potting soil until you can plant them in the ground.

I just got in several everbearing raspberries for late fall planting. They are bare root and the forecast is for rain for the next three days. What is the best way to keep these plants in good condition until I can get them into the soil?

The pine fines make an excellent mulch.
