Dear Growers,

If you're within striking distance of Kansas City, then plan to
attend the upcoming conference on Selling "Local" in Kansas City.
This one-day conference will be held on Saturday, December 4, at the
Kauffman Foundation Conference Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Now is the time to be thinking about market opportunities for the
coming year. The conference will have 11 workshops where growers and
buyers for various types of markets will talk about their
experiences, and the requirements and opportunities of those markets.
Market types include restaurants, farmers markets, wholesale,
auctions, farm-stands and CSAs. Additional workshops will consider
processed goods, State and Federal programs for seniors and families,
producer coops, creating distribution networks, and pricing. In
addition to the speakers, representatives of farmers markets,
wholesale outlets and restaurants will be there to make contacts with
growers. A lunch will be provided, with a keynote address by Mary
Hendrickson, University of Missouri, Columbia, talking about building
local food systems.

This conference will be of interest not only to those seeking to sell
in Kansas City, but to anyone interested in learning more about a
range of marketing options for local farm products.

The program and registration can be obtained at the link below:

http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/hfrr/Upcoming_Conferences/welcome.htm

The cost is $30 and includes lunch. Please register by December 1.

Please give me a call or send me an email if you need a program
mailed to you, or if you have any questions.

p.s. The program for the Great Plains Vegetable Conference is also
at the above website. That is another great conference, not to be
missed.
