One of the most dreaded phrases I hate to hear/read is: Check with your
local extension agent!

Not all state extension programs are not the same, and there are even big
diferences between extension agents in the same state. I was just starting
to deveop a relationship with one of my local extension agents, when he
retired, leaving (so far) just the tobacco specialist. I have met another
agent from another county who's helpful and he's nervous about working with
me as another agent (from yet another county) is supposed to be helping me,
but isn't. We have a great extension specialist who works with all of us
"alternative" folks statewide, and he must be worn out trying to work with
all of us.

I think things are slowly improving here, but just wanted to remind folks
how frustrating it can be.

>From my experience, cukes need to be kept in high humidity to keep from
getting rubbery. Keep them in sealed bags in cold storage (fridge), but
watch out that they're not too wet and start to rot. When I sell at market,
I only take out enought from my cooler(with ice) to make a decent display
and spray them frequently with water.
