Del,
I am so sorry about the contamination. That is pretty bad.

I also have a daughter going to college, and perhaps a son soon too. I
know what you mean about the steady income - I am looking for a part time
job at present.

I also did organic from my values and beliefs. Since then, I have
gained the knowledge to back up the values and beliefs.

I have cut way back this year from market gardening - only selling
tomatoes and potatoes to our food buying club membership, and perhaps some
tomatoes to a restaurant next week. I have done this for two reasons - 1)
my children are about grown, and I want to be with them on the weekends
rather than at markets 2) what I have been learning about politics, and
the policies that influence farming (and all other aspects of our lives)
have made me realize that work for change in those areas is crucial. So, I
am working on political campaigns, and as an activist, and as a writer,
researching many issues, and learning/forging solutions for a positive,
democratic future.

I still enjoy seeing more worms in my soil every year, and I still enjoy
saving seeds and growing and selling a more limited variety of vegetables.
And putting up food for the winter.

I wish you well in your endeavors.
Jill
