I was toying with this last year. I got an intriguing letter from a
charitable organization said they were looking to pair immigrants with
farmers including CSAs, would I be interested in employees or working share
holders, the letter said it was just a heads up and I'd be hearing from so
and so. Well I formulated my answer but so and so never called. But what I
was going to offer was approx. 2-3 hours work(per week) and the person goes
home with a full share amount of food that day. This was loosely based on
$10 hour and a $20-30 retail value of one of our shares. I had someone call
me the other day looking to satisfy his gardening "need" and I may offer him
the same deal. Oh of course if you don't work your hours you don't get your
veggies. With someone who is really into gardening, or getting good veggies
this could work really well. But it does seem to be easy to be absent. It
also is ok if your not really depending on the worker and surplus veggies
cover their "membership" However if you want them officially counted and
have some assurance they'll show up I think the pay reimburse is a good
idea. If they don't show up they still get the veggies but its veggies
they've paid for not worked for. Good luck Beth
