when it gets right down to it, home is where you hang your hat. you go anywhere looking for good, you find it. you go anywhere looking for bad, well, you find that, too.

I know, right?  You should have heard the moaning here when it was thought for a while our department would move en masse to CF.  Somehow, the fact we're already in Durham gets by people - mention closer to downtown and everyone freaks.  <rolls eyes>  I have a fight in my group to convince people that Durham is largely no different than Raleigh in terms of crime, murder, etc.  It just gets a lot more bad press.

Very true.. when people heard my office was moved to Durham a few people actually asked me "is it safe there?" and when they heard I moved they could not believe it.  Durham is a fine city with a bad image that is sadly reinforced by some of our neighbors.
