I'm just getting back into it myself, and there's a Woodcraft store that just opened up off Glenwood Avenue about a month ago. They've got a bunch of hardwoods (no plywood that I saw), but I picked up some nice walnut for about $6.30/BF, which struck me as reasonable. http://www.woodcraft.com/stores/store.aspx?id=532

I've bought from Capitol City in the past, too. That is a great place to browse through -- a very old-fashioned type of lumberyard!

Any woodworkers out here on Internetworkers?

I'm starting to get into some wood working projects and I'm looking for
better places than Lowes and Home Depot to purchase wood. Does anyone
have any options for 8x4 sheets of 3/4" B-2 pre-finished birch plywood,
for example? Or maybe some birch, ash, and purpleheart planks?

Check out http://www.capitolcitylumber.com/ They have some nice
stuff, and it's a pretty cool place to check out.
