Nortel

Pate
Technologies, Inc. is currently looking for telecommunications
consultants with one or all of the following wireless technologies:
UMTS, GSM, CDMA, and DMS-MTX.
Preferred candidates will have worked
with Nortel technologies in a Cell Site, Access or a Switches arena,
and have performed installation and maintenance of these
systems.

The Telecommunications Consultants opportunities vary by
location. Locations include California, Texas, Michigan, North
Carolina and Washington. Ideal candidates are willing to travel and
have their own laptop computer and cell phone.

Please note that
new positions arrive every week. Positions that are currently open
(arrived on 3/29/04) include:

1) CDMA NBSS Subject Matter Expert
IV (Ohio and Detroit, Michigan)
This position will be allocated
(assigned) for experienced Lead Technicians / Engineer who will be
assigned to lead and train customer technicians on the Nortel CDMA
product, this is an advanced position.

This individual will be
requested to provide operational assistance and training for Nortel
CDMA NBSS technician's to include operation, troubleshooting, routine
maintenance and structured knowledge transfers. This is a position
that will lead technical troubleshooting in all areas of the product,
and provide a supervision role to ensure customer expectations are
met. This individual should be well versed in the many aspects of
central office management including transmission facilities and tools
to facilitate troubleshooting.

- Minimum 5 years experience on a
Nortel CDMA system, 2 years experience with Nortel CDMA NBSS.

- Strong CDMA NBSS product knowledge with experience in routine
maintenance and troubleshooting in the several of the following areas:
Legacy BSC, CBRS, BTS Metrocell, FRM/MFRM/MFRM2, SBS ESEL
troubleshooting, 1XRTT and EVDO.
- Well versed in the software
loading for all sub-systems for upgrade and patching processes.

Above average skills in management of the BSSM (C-EMS is a plus)
including lip file registration, routine BSSM maintenance, Unix system
administration, CFDS administration including site file generation and
data fill.
- Knowledge in passport based product area plus.
The successful candidate could be asked to assist in customer
on-the-job training, and feel comfortable in that environment.

training for GSM MSC switch technician's to include operation,
troubleshooting, routine maintenance and structured knowledge
transfers. This is a position that will lead technical
troubleshooting in all areas of the product, and provide a supervision
role to ensure customer expectations are met. This individual should
be well versed in the many aspects of central office management
including transmission facilities and tools to facilitate
troubleshooting.

Skills should include:
- Minimum 5 years
experience on a Nortel DMS-100 switching system, 2 years experience
with Nortel GSM MSC switching system.
- Well versed in the many
aspects of central office management including transmission facilities
and tools to facilitate troubleshooting.
- Strong GSM MSC
knowledge base and troubleshooting experience in core areas including
XA-Core, SDM, ENET, LIM, FLIS, FRUI, SPM.
- Experienced in
standard Nortel software upgrade practices including PM preparation
and ONP, software patching, SDM patching and upgrades.
- Use
strong telephony and database knowledge to troubleshooting and direct
resolution on routing and trunking issues, and other OM
irregularities.
- Use switch tools to identify problematic
areas and lead resolution of these areas from logs, OM's, external
performance indicators, DMSMON etc.
- Experienced in routing and
translations troubleshooting using universal translations.
- No
reliability on Nortel Support Teams for non-software related
troubleshooting experience.

6) Test
Engineer (Texas)
Primary Responsibilities of Position(s):
Software
Verification (Test) Engineers are expected to speed on the Nortel's
implementation of GPRS and UMTS networks and ramp up quickly to start
running test cases for data packet networks. Engineers are expected to
execute test cases with both internally and externally developed
tools. They are asked to have sufficient knowledge to provide clear
and concise problem definitions for error reporting that includes
collecting logs on a variety of different systems.

The system
under test for this role will be multiple components of the GPRS/UMTS
Packet Data Core network. This requires knowledge of IP, GAP and GSM
specifications and a variety of test tools. In order to be effective,
understanding of GPRS and UMTS core networks is required.

Required
Competencies: Education: Degree: Bachelors Major: Computer Science
(CS) or Electrical Engineering (EE)

Experience Required:
- 1-3
years in Software Test/Verification

Skills Required:
- Must have
strong technical skills with system testing background
- Proven
experience and success in automating test processes, test efficiency
and reducing test cycle times
- Strong Problem Solving Skills -
