Don't know if you guys have heard about this yet or not, but I would
definitely encourage everyone who can to go sign up.

http://www.ncgreenpower.org/

You sign up on the website or through your power company to purchase
"blocks" of 100 Kwh for $4 each, monthly. Your "purchase" is
tax-deductible, and goes directly to add green power into the NC grid,
with as much of it as possible being generated locally and regionally.

Supposedly, an average NC house uses around 800-900 Kwh average monthly.
That means for $32/month you could completely offset your yearly average
electric use with NC-generated green power!

For many many reasons, I think it's damn important to support renewable
power and locally-generated power. Whether you support it 'cos it
encourages community-based solutions and independence from foreign
sources, or 'cos it keeps jobs in NC, or 'cos it helps reduce pollution
from the power NOT needing to be generated by coal & gas fired plants,
or 'cos you know the grid is frwakin unreliable, or 'cos you want to
tinker & geek out with energy gadgets, doesn't matter - just support
it!!!

We're signing up....
Paula
