For martial arts near RTP or Duke, you have multiple choices:

- A small Aikido dojo meeting at the something-or-other rec center off
South Alston Ave. on Tuesdays & Thursdays. (
http://aiki.mc.duke.edu/aikido/durham-aikido.html )
- A TaeKwonDo place, Success Martial Art, maybe? over in a shopping center
on 54 near Fayetteville Rd. that has lunchtime & after-work classes.
- Muay Thai & Kickboxing with Defensive Fighting Solutions, meeting at some
gym near Trackside on Miami Blvd.
- Couple of jiujitsu places in Durham.

I go to an Aikido dojo in Chapel Hill
(http://aiki.mc.duke.edu/aikido/aikido.html) that's affiliated with the
Alston one, and with some in Raleigh; if you are a member at one, you can
go to the others whenever you wish also. Recommendations: stay away from
places that want you to sign long-term contracts, visit as an observer
several times before you choose your dojo, and be wary of places that
"guarantee" you'll have a black belt in x months.

Can't help on the hockey.

I'm looking for
a good martial arts place, more active than Tai Chi, maybe like Tae Kwon
Do, somewhat near Duke University and/or Cisco.
