We're in the final stage of moving all ibiblio email to gmail. There
are 10-15 domains left to migrate, including metalab.unc.edu. After
that, mail.ibiblio.org will stop processing email. Everyone still
using POP or IMAP on mail.ibiblio.org will have a brief window (4-6
weeks) to download inboxes and mail folders. At the end of that
period, we will sunset the ibiblio mail server. I'll send out more
notices later with specific dates.

We sent a message to all metalab.unc.edu email addresses to determine
which addresses are active. The current plan is to decommission
accounts for which we don't get a "hey, I'm here and use this address"
response. A huge amount of spam accumulates in unused accounts, even
if they're not publicized. I don't know how that's even possible. I
mention this broadly to 1) make a pitch for moving away from
metalab.unc.edu addresses and 2) say that if you didn't receive a
notice and think you should have, please open a help ticket at
http://www.ibiblio.org/help/

If you have general questions or would like to discuss this topic,
please start a thread on the webgroup list.

Many thanks,

-John R.
