I've debugged this to a point where I see that a correct stream in UTF-16LE
arrives from the SQL server and then iconv needs to convert this to UTF-8
which is native to the unix system, but for some reason fails....
Here's a dump from the freetds log file:
Server charset: UCS-2LE
Server column_size: 510
Client charset: UTF-8
Client column_size: 1020

Which shows these charsets.... Any ideas?

Subject: [freetds] Charset option

Hi!

I'm having trouble using freeTDS to talk to a MS SQL database with a charset
of CP1250. I can't achieve to see national characters when executing a query
using iSQL.

I've downloaded and built from schratch the latest stable version of FreeTDS.
I've configured unixODBC and have put
Client charset = ISO-8859-2
in the freetds.conf file.

However when I login to the database using iSQL and execute a query, I see
"?" instead of my national characters.....
