That is exactly why I am looking at freeTDS and
iODBC. Oracle has what they call "Generic Connectivity"
which requires an ODBC driver. It will allow you to create
a database link to another db.

I'm trying to go from Solaris 8 and query a SQL Server 2000
db.

After some patches from the iODBC folks (thanks Patrick)
and hints from others (thanks Ou)
I have it working using odbctest. However, we have the
64bit version of Oracle, and I believe therefore Generic Connectivity
needs a 64bit driver. So I think I am now stumped.

I was contemplating trying to do the queries with java, then update the
oracle tables. Sounds like Carl did it in the opposite direction with perl.

Anyone using freeTDS with java?

Tim
