I got all sorts of these goodies (Unknown Marker ...) when using
sybase_pconnect. I switched to sybase_connect and they went away.

Linux 2.2.14-5 (SMP i686)
Apache 1.3.9
PHP 3.0.16
MS SQL Server 7.0
FreeTDS (.50/cvs - 5/15/00)
compile options
--enable-msdblib
--with-tdsver=4.2
