If what you want to do is simple queries into a MS SQL database from a
unix platform, then yes FreeTDS is what you want. We using it to do
just that in a commercial environment. The reason why I qualify
'simple queries' is becuase that is ALL we do, FreeTDS I am sure does
much more than all we need it for, but I know it can do at least that
much well.
