Dan,

This is a pretty specialized list, so we don't do well with very broad
questions. Perhaps you could ask a more specific question about some
particular Pauline passage, and I'm sure someone will have an opinion.

Meanwhile, I commend you for your interest. If you want to pursue Pauline
studies very deeply, I suggest you start now thinking about where you want to
go to college. No doubt you have already started thinking about that. Look
for a college with a strong program in Greek. A strong Classics department
would be especially nice. You'll need to learn all you can about the Greek
language and culture. If you choose a college where you can also study Hebrew
and ancient Jewish history, so much the better. Your object as an
undergraduate will not be to master doctrine but to learn the languages and
history. After that, you can think about a seminary where you can focus more
on the details of interpreting Pauline (and other Biblical) texts.

Okay, so this is long range planning, but it's be best advice I can give.

If you can't wait ten years for your answer, try asking a specific question,
and we'll see if we can help.

And thanks for visiting this list.

Chris
