Richard Fellows ponders:

Why does Paul name his colleagues [seemingly selectively] in 2 Cor 1:19?
Why does he select Silvanus and Timothy, and not Apollos, for example? Is it
because P, S, & T were the original missionary team? Perhaps, but why is
that the important criterion? No-where else does Paul name those who
constituted his evangelistic team, so the inclusion of the names in 2 Cor
1:19 requires explanation. Why are Silvanus and Timothy particularly
relevant to the context here?<<

I guess I'm not fully convinced that this need be anything more than a random detail that Paul "threw in" (no extra charge). Because he likely had no expectation that his letters would be studied as long, hard, and carefully as they subsequently have been, he may not have meant or intended anything special with the inclusion of this detail. The fact that he "No-where else ... name(s) those who constituted his evangelistic team" is only relevant to the extent that consistency is something that Paul consistently demonstrates.

[This being said, I also do find Dave Hindley's suggestion attractive]
