You can make it even more fun:

I release a cc-by-sa image.
Someone else makes an enhanced version but adds an obnoxious watermark.
I get this version and want to make a further derivative of this
grandchild of my own making. ... but my ability to do so is hampered
by this watermark which may be difficult to keep in my new version or
defeating to my purpose. So much for "ShareAlike"!

It's thought patterns like this which have caused a number of people
to suggest that the requirement to keep a copyright notice doesn't
require a particular placement for form, that I can move "(C)1997
BOZO" into the exif and description text. If this is actually
supported by the license text isn't something that I've personally
evaluated, nor is it something that I care to comment on... but it is
what some people have been thinking.
