What type memory does your laptop use? I might have memory for it (16MB
EDO or FP SODIMMs, possibly one or two 32MB).

Thanks for the offer, but my laptop is already maxed out at 32MB.

What model and speed is it?

My laptop is a Canon INNOVA BOOK 490CDS with a 133MHz Pentium processor,
but I'm not interested in "upgrading" it. Thanks for the offer, though.

One memory seller claimed the 490CDS could take up to 64MB.

I found a site explaining how to make your own main battery for a 360D
Innovabook from 10 rechargeable 4/3 length "A" (AA?) cells, duct tape, and hot glue. And how to make a 3-cell CMOS battery for it.

Canon also made 486s. I ran BL1 on a 486 with 12MB RAM.

What will you use the laptop for?

I tested memory usage of various browsers in BL2:
Opera 8.54 - 10MB - useless at many or most sites now

Opera 9.63 - 22MB - needs glibc from SW81 or SW90 (you can use my operalib.tgz package). I use it for most browsing.
Seamonkey 1.1.19 - 20MB - works at more sites than Opera 9.
Firefox 2 (DSL linux) - 30MB

Non-javascript graphical browsers:

links2 graphical (x11) - about 3MB (Steven compiled it for BL libc5, and delilinux has one for glibc).

dillo 0.86 - about 3MB (at my site, for glibc 2.2.25 - SW81) Is there one compiled for libc5?

Text-only browsers include besides links2: elinks, lynx, retawq (all at my site for glibc 2.2.5). In theory elinks can be compiled to handle javascript but I failed at that.

I think these all work at fastmail.fm (except Opera 8) and with squirrel mail.

I use even 120MHz laptops as internet radios. I posted mplayer for older processors (P54C, i586) and also packages of scripts for classical radio stations that work with mplayer. (The newer mplayers don't work online with PI or PII).
