Steven, can you get xfbdev to work in BL3?

It complained
Could not open default cursor font 'cursor'

Xvesa has the "cursor" font build-in. AFAIK
no other Xserver has that. That is why the
BL3 no-xvesa.tgz package installs the "cursor"
font (and some other things).

I got the cursor part solved with -softcursor or the font.

Your no-xvesa.tgz package has modified startx
and fonts.dir, and cursor.pcf.gz
Does it need rgb.txt?

Xvesa has the rgb specifications build-in.
AFAIK other Xservers need a rgb file if you
want to set colors by name rather than number.

Adding rgb.txt did not help. xfbdev still just produces two pages of help file instead of loading in BL3. Please can you try to figure out why?

Also 'nomce' works added to the loadlin line, but not in lilo.conf.
I think I enter it at the boot prompt:
LILO: BL3_ramdisk nomce
Is this right?

So far my 2 floppy disk setup is still not usable with the two neomagic computers (Gateway and DELL) or the two Compaq Armadas (nomce). Your standard one works with the Hitachi and the three Toshibas already. The Compaq Presario with Cyrix MediaGX 233Mhz cpu that clocks at 120MHz won't boot with syslinux but did boot with lilo (I forget if Xvesa worked).

Cheers,
Steven
